Transcription and search widget
Turn your videos' speech into transcripts, then let viewers search them and jump to the exact moment.
Transcripts power captions, chapter suggestions and the search widget. You start them on the Transcribe page and read or correct them on each video's details page.
Both pages sit under AI features in the library sidebar.
Transcribe
Open Libraries → your library → Transcribe.
Usage
The first card shows Transcribe minutes this period: how many of your plan's transcribe minutes you've used. Allowances are shared by all libraries in the account.
Settings
These save at once:
- Auto-transcribe new uploads: every video you upload from now on is transcribed when it's Ready.
- Default language: Auto-detect, English or Arabic. Choose the language if you know it; auto-detect works out the language from the speech.
Transcribe videos
The list shows every Ready video with its transcript state: Not transcribed, Transcribing with a percentage, Done with its language, or Failed with the reason. The list refreshes while any transcript is running.
- Filter with Show: All, Not transcribed or Failed.
- Tick the videos you want, or Select all shown. The bar at the bottom shows the minutes they use and whether they fit in your allowance.
- Select Transcribe selected.
For a video that failed, select Retry transcribing in its row.
Videos appear here once they're Ready. A video that is still encoding can't be transcribed yet.
Read, correct and download
- Read & edit opens the transcript on the video's details page. Correct any line in place; the change saves at once. See Manage videos.
- Download transcript saves it as
.vtt,.srtor.txt, for captions in other players or for your own records.
From your server
Your server can start a transcription too. POST /videos/{videoId}/transcribe answers 202 Accepted with a job_id; leave out language to auto-detect it. See Transcribe a video in the API reference.
Search widget
The search widget lets viewers on your website search the spoken words of the videos you choose, then jump to the exact moment in the player.
Open Libraries → your library → Search widget. Turn on Widget enabled, then set it up in three steps. Every setting saves at once.
Videos the widget searches
Under Which videos, choose:
- All transcribed: every video with a transcript, including the ones you transcribe later.
- Pick videos: only the videos you tick below.
Only transcribed videos can be searched. If none are, select Go to Transcribe first.
Widget settings
- Search box placeholder: the hint text shown in the empty search box.
- Results shown: how many moments one search lists.
Add it to your website
Select Open API & embeds and generate the widget's iframe under Search Widget. See Embedding.
The Widget ID is shown here too, to copy for your own backend. The widget only plays on your allowed domains.
The Preview beside the settings shows the widget as it appears on your site. Type a word your videos say: each result shows the words around the match and the moment it jumps to.
When you turn the widget off, it leaves the Search Widget list in API & embeds.
